FedEx is expanding its delivery capabilities by teaming up with logistics technology company OneRail to introduce same-day shipping across its network. The move positions FedEx alongside major retailers and e-commerce players that are rapidly accelerating delivery speeds to meet growing consumer expectations.

Through this partnership, retailers using FedEx will be able to offer customers flexible delivery options, including end-of-day and two-hour windows, along with near real-time tracking. OneRail’s platform uses artificial intelligence to coordinate deliveries, tapping into a vast network of carriers and drivers while also leveraging store locations to speed up fulfillment.

Rather than setting fixed pricing, FedEx will allow retailers to determine how same-day delivery is priced within their own checkout systems, giving businesses more control over how they present the service to customers.

The launch comes amid increasing competition in the fast-shipping space. Companies like Amazon, Walmart, and Target have been investing heavily in faster fulfillment, with Amazon recently rolling out delivery windows as short as one to three hours in select areas.

FedEx and OneRail say their collaboration is designed to simplify the process for retailers, eliminating the need to build costly infrastructure while still offering high-speed delivery options. As demand for rapid shipping continues to grow, the partnership reflects a broader industry shift toward convenience and immediacy in online shopping.
